Hi there! Thank you for reading Breadsticks and Blush (B&B).

I’m Anne and I love reading. Pity that life sometimes gets in the way. Besides book reviews, I also write about the mundane and interesting things that makes up life.

I hope you enjoy your time on my blog and stay a while.

Ad | I can’t be the only person who daydreams ab Ad | I can’t be the only person who daydreams about new furniture. Today I am thinking about couches and obvs I am trawling the @coricraft_sa website to find my perfect Netflix and wine couch. And there’s plenty to choose from…over 100 couches to be exact. Apart from supporting local artisans, what will make your couch even more special is that you can also customise fabric colours and choose from over 70 fabrics. They definitely give me lots to daydream about. If you want to check it out for yourself visit their website here: https://bit.ly/3sosnKc #Coricraft #LocalIsTheNewLoyal #Ad
I used to spend my lunch breaks in the agency cafe I used to spend my lunch breaks in the agency cafeteria, getting lost in the pages of a book and sipping on a chai latte. It used to de-stress me, refresh my mind and set me up for productive afternoons. I haven't done that in years...take a proper lunch break. I might just bring back the lunch time reading. #lunchtimereading #bookstagram #bookstagramsouthafrica #bookblogger #booknerd
I know we only like to talk about our victories an I know we only like to talk about our victories and things we are good at in life. But, guess what? Before we can be good at something, we will most probably fail first. Messy hair, comfy track pants, cup of tea, chocola Messy hair, comfy track pants, cup of tea, chocolate and a book. I can't think of a better Saturday. I've been looking forward to reading π‘Ίπ’‰π’–π’ˆπ’ˆπ’Šπ’† π‘©π’‚π’Šπ’ π’ƒπ’š π‘«π’π’–π’ˆπ’π’‚π’” 𝑺𝒕𝒖𝒂𝒓𝒕 because I've only seen glowing reviews about it and the story sounds heartbreaking and engaging. If you're wondering what it's about, here's the synopsis (taken from the @panmacmillansa website): It is 1981. Glasgow is dying and good families must grift to survive. Agnes Bain has always expected more from life. She dreams of greater things: a house with its own front door and a life bought and paid for outright (like her perfect, but false, teeth). But Agnes is abandoned by her philandering husband, and soon she and her three children find themselves trapped in a decimated mining town. As she descends deeper into drink, the children try their best to save her, yet one by one they must abandon her to save themselves. It is her son Shuggie who holds out hope the longest. Shuggie is different. Fastidious and fussy, he shares his mother’s sense of snobbish propriety. The miners' children pick on him and adults condemn him as no’ right. But Shuggie believes that if he tries his hardest, he can be normal like the other boys and help his mother escape this hopeless place. Thank you PanMacmillan for the copy. I also still have 𝑬𝒂𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒓 π’†π’ˆπ’ˆπ’Šπ’†π’” left over...hands up if you do too! #booklover #weekendread #shuggiebain #bookstagramsouthafrica #bookstagram #booknerd #fortheloveofreading #bookbloggershub #bookblogger #gifted
