15 Feb Healthy pizza cheat
Getting into healthy habits can be difficult, here’s a healthy alternative to pizza to help you a little bit.
I’m pretty much a cliché this January. I gym three times a week, I’m eating healthier and I make an effort to drink my 8 glasses of water a day. Not a pizza in sight.
Eating healthier is not as difficult as I thought it would be. Once I got over two weeks of no junk, I was pretty much used to it. But, being a carb addict, I still crave something unhealthy from time to time. Instead of caving and ordering that pizza that I was really Jonesing for the other night, I got creative in the kitchen.
Instead of the conventional pizza bases, I used brown or wholewheat pita to make a healthier version.
It’s as easy as 1,2,3
Place the pita in the oven to puff up as per the directions on the package. Once sufficiently puffed, open it up by cutting it in half. These are your two “pizza” bases.
Pre-heat the oven the 180 degrees.
Spread a layer of tomato pasta sauce on the bases and top with whatever you want. I topped my pizzas with baby spinach, fresh tomato, feta and a mix of grated mozzarella and white cheddar.
Pop into the oven for 7-10 minutes or until the cheese is melted.
I served it with fresh avocado and baby spinach, but you can eat just as is or whatever else you want. It might not look picture pretty perfect, but it’s tasty and satisfies the craving.
Enjoy a guilt-free pizza!
