Hi! I’m Anne and this is my blog. I know that you are busy, so thank you for spending some of your time reading Breadsticks and Blush (B&B).

B&B combines two things I love – food (more specifically carbs) and taking care of myself aka looking good and feeling good. I don’t believe that happiness is measured by your dress size, but I do believe that if you are healthy and feel good, you look good.

Everything either feels super difficult or super d Everything either feels super difficult or super dull in life right now. I'm definitely not the only one experiencing this. It leads to frustration, feelings of sadness, sometimes even boredom and anxiety being at an a time high. We're entitled to feeling all these things. But, let's remember, that what we're going through is a small chapter in our stories and that this too shall pass. One day, we'll look back and wonder where we got the strength to get through it all and be proud of ourselves. Although it's difficult, keep your chin up, try to be positive about the future and still put in the work for the future you want to have. Please be kind to people around you, everyone is going through something right now. Most of all, be kind to yourself. #sundaymotivations #buildthefutureyouwant #coviddays2020
Currently reading Writers and Lovers by Lily King, Currently reading Writers and Lovers by Lily King, a Christmas gift from the most lovely @alexhine. I am just about halfway through and loving it! It's beautifully written and the author pulls you into the story, leaving you wanting more after every page. This is what is waiting for you if you decide to get lost in this books pages: "Blindsided by her mother's sudden death, and wrecked by a recent love affair, Casey Peabody has arrived in Massachusetts in the summer of 1997 without a plan. Her mail consists of wedding invitations and final notices from debt collectors. A former child golf prodigy, she now waits tables in Harvard Square and rents a tiny, mouldy room at the side of a garage where she works on the novel she's been writing for six years. At thirty-one, Casey is still clutching onto something nearly all her old friends have let go of: the determination to live a creative life. When she falls for two very different men at the same time, her world fractures even more. Casey's fight to fulfil her creative ambitions and balance the conflicting demands of art and life is challenged in ways that push her to the brink." #bookworm #bookworm_insta #bookstagram #bookish #bookreviewer
We find ourselves at the start of a new week again We find ourselves at the start of a new week again. The December holidays feel like a lifetime ago...am I right? I want to be better at self care this year. Being an empath I'm pretty bad at it, I generally put others' needs ahead of my own and hate to disappoint anyone. But, I'm trying to be better at not feeling guilty saying no, or walking away if something doesn't serve me or isn't a positive influence in my life. Self care is so much more than face masks and bubble baths, it's thinking about what you want your life to look like and making the decisions, difficult or easy ones, to get you there. #sundaymotivation❤️ #selfcarefirst #empathlife #takingcareofme #buildthefutureyouwant
I hope you choose to be yourself every single day, I hope you choose to be yourself every single day, even if you're different and not everybody's cup of tea. I also hope that you choose being human and interesting instead of perfection. #sundaymotivation❤️ #beyourbest #beingreal💯
I feel like every single person on my timeline rea I feel like every single person on my timeline read this book either last year or over the December holidays. I am yet to read or hear any bad reviews of Where the Crawdads Sing. After reading it I completely understand all the hype. What a heartbreaking and heartwarming tale of survival, acceptance, trust, prejudice, abuse, family (the one you're born into and the one you create), inequality and everything in between. I was transported to the marsh everytime I picked it up and felt like I was right next to Kya, growing up and learning about the unfairness life dealt her. If you haven't yet, I highly recommend reading Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens. #bookworm #bookworm_insta #bookstagram #bookish #wherethecrawdadssing #bookreviewer
Guuuys, we survived 2020. Put it on a t-shirt and Guuuys, we survived 2020. Put it on a t-shirt and wear it with pride. 2021 won't be a piece of cake either, I think we can all agree on that, but we shouldn't stop setting goals, working towards our dreams and working on ourselves. Even tiny little steps are still progress - don't forget that. These quotes are just a couple of reminders as we head back to work this week. Personally, 2020 taught me quite a few lessons and showed me who my friends really are. It's not easy being friends with me at the moment, especially since I've been isolating since March 2020 - the only people I've had in person contact with since were my mom, brother and Mark's parents. Friends have been patient, texting and calling and sharing all the funny memes. Please don't stop. Other friends have dropped off the face of the earth, not even replying to my texts. Oh well. It's been tough. Some days our home feels like a prison, but I'm ever grateful that I can work from home, that I have amazingly supportive people in my life and that I have a loving, kind partner who makes me laugh and talks me down a ledge every now and then - he's also a phenomenal cook 😍. FYI, he's been at home with me every single day since March. It's safe to say if we can spend 24/7 together for this long, we're in it for the long haul. Here's to a better 2021 for all of us. Please remember that this virus is NOT a hoax, it is severely contagious, esp the second strand...you may be asymptomatic and spread it wherever you go. So, please don't be an asshole or think you're smarter than the epidemiologists and medical professionals. You don't want someone's death on your conscious. If you are doubting that it's real, please volunteer for a day at your nearest hospital where Covid-19 patients are treated & see for yourself. - Wear your mask
- Wash your hands
- Disinfect your groceries (don't be lazy, it can safe your life)
- Keep that 2m distance
- Stay and work from home if you can
- Don't have big parties, braais, dinner parties etc...even if it is with family. Please, we need everyone to get through this and not prolong it. #sundayquoteday #motivationfortheweek #backtowork2021 #covid19sa #FlattenTheCurve
